On 27-28 November, 2015 the Curriculum Workshop of the Work Package 2 under the Sustainable Caucasus Project was held in Tbilisi, Georgia. The project is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation under the SCOPES Program and it aims to support the scientific institutions in their efforts to contribute to the structural development and modernization of research and teaching, increase their attractiveness and international competitiveness by improving basic overall conditions, and link research outcomes to development practice.
Work Package 2 – Scientific Excellence, targets two key ingredients of academic excellence: research coordination and curriculum reform. Curriculum reform evolves around activities that contribute to an enabling regional environment for mainstreaming sustainable mountain development in higher education. The SMD Curriculum Workshop was devoted to discussing the first phase of information collection, reviewing the existing curricula, identifying the challenges and planning future steps. The representatives of other Work Packages were also given floor to present the updates for their respective activities.
