Scientific Network for the Caucasus Mountain Regions (Sustainable Caucasus) is implementing the project “Strengthening the Climate Adaptation Capacities in the South Caucasus” (SCAC) with financial support from the Swiss Co-operation Office-South Caucasus.  Within the framework of the mentioned project, National Initiative Groups have been established in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

National Initiative Group of Georgia, (NIG Georgia) is an alliance of scientific, civil and private organisations interested and working on Sustainable Mountain Development (SMD), including among others Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA)

Currently, the NIG Georgia unites more than 20 representatives from various academic, non-governmental and private organisations and individual members. The NIG Georgia is focused on advocacy of the science-policy interface strengthening and support of sustainable development of Caucasus mountain region.

In the framework of the second meeting of the Georgian National Initiative Group the renewed Georgian National Determined Contributions (NDC) document was reviewed and as a result of this meeting with the involvement of group members was developed a package of changes (in English and Georgian) and proposed to the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Department of Climate Change for review. The document is signed by the majority of NIG Georgia members.
